Listen now (84 min) | Sarah Jones and her husband Michael are fourth generation potato farmers in Hooper, CO. Their farm, Jones Farms Organics, is paving the way in the San Luis Valley (the nation’s second largest fresh potato growing region in the U.S.) for regenerative and sustainable farming practices. In addition to helping manage day to day operations at the farm, Sarah has also recently transformed a local gas station and café into a neighborhood whole-food eatery, and helped to bring
Potatoes, gas station and art ! That's a hell of a mix ! Loved your conversation with Sarah and the " just do it" vibe of this episode. It's a fun privilege to discover your " nesting" activités in Crestone and all the cool people you're meeting in this very unique place/space.
I personally believe that one of the main problems of big cities is overspecialisation. The message is like :
"Hey ! It's a fucking jungle, son ! There's competition everywhere. Better be super-ready! You have to stand out and be the best of the best at XYZ. Time, money, complete dedication just for XYZ and that's it, forget the rest, it's just a waste of time."
No place for curiosity, no time for exploring new stuff, no time for connecting with your right hemisphere… Don't even think of trying something new !
And… you certainly cannot have a one guy delicious pizza business. Survival mode for everybody, that's it ( You have Netflix and antidepressants, stop complaining ! ).
On my level, when I told people that I was leaving the Paris region for Montréal, the first serious reaction was : there's a job waiting for you over there, right ?
( The other reactions were : what about winter ? What about cheese ?)
When we told our friends that we didn't have a job interview before leaving, the look in their eyes was basically : this is pure recklessness or you've just won the lottery and you don't wanna tell us.
The good old motto " it's better to feel remorse than to regret" seems so appropriate when you get older.
Happy Leo Season Anya, and have fun at Budokon !
Omg, there's a new episode ! I'm downloading the 139 right now !!
