Jules Evans is a philosopher, journalist, and author, whose work centers around the interplay between rational and ecstatic states of consciousness. Currently, Jules is leading the Challenging Psychedelic Experiences Project - researching psychedelic harm reduction, ethics, and integration. Jules and I speak about our shared disillusionment with Western spiritual wellness culture, the role discernment plays in realm of mystery, and why it’s dangerous to be overconfident about ones “truth”. We discuss how Western religion has always been both a belief system
Wait... Whaaaaat ??? Joe and Aubrey are NOT fully accurate about psychedelic experiences ??
But, but, but... I WANT my magical pill right now ! Life sucks and it seems that it's getting worse everyday !
I smilled a lot during this one, Anya. Thanks for bringing to us another refreshing episode. Like Jules said : " too many violins outhere, it's important to ear another instrument from time to time". I could not agree more.
I think that during the lockdowns/covid era, a lot of things were not just paused, they were " compressed". And now that we're back to " normal " again, there's like a spring effect. The spring pressure is realised all over the place.

Quick, quick, quick ! It's a market economy ! There's a ferocious competition, no time to fuck around !
So ... We're supposed to deal with Spirituality like this ? To consume it just like another product or service ??? Really ?
Our culture is ultra materialistic, so the perfect antidote is just to stake everything on non-material stuff that we're just begining to rediscover ?
It's so childish. Bad farmers, bad hunters, bad butchers do exist so... Why do we assume that bad shamans don't ?
Do we really want another headlong rush ?
I see the urge of Change with a big C, I see it and I feel it everyday. I totally understand it. But we cannot, as a collective consciousness, approach the Non-material realm in the same way that we're dealing with the material one.
It fact, I do believe that's literaly the last thing that we wanna do.
One last thing, the outro music ROCKS !!! ( Sounds like the first fruits of Mars in Virgo to me).
Take care, Anya ! Thanks for another pleasant injection of nuance.
