Erin is a professional writer who’s currently studying to get her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Erin is also one of my closest friends, and my former Whore Rapport co-host. Since ending Whore Rapport last fall, Erin and I both felt that there was more to say about our decision to stop the podcast. We speak about the animate, sacred nature of identity, the challenge of overcoming projections and idealizations, and the dangers of leaning too far into intellectualization to the point where it becomes a defense. We also talk about our evolving and deepening relationship to the archetype of the Whore, and discuss what it means to live and love from a place of sacred devotion.
Holly Macaroni !!! Back with Erin, what a pleasant surprise ! Praise Venus !
So cool to hear your voice again, Anya (btw, the return of Uncle Chris was also great).
You know what, I was not a faithful listener of WR, but there’s one thing that I was absolutely sure of when I listened to you guys : this is unique.
There was nothing like WR before WR, and that’s so important nowadays.
Like an old parrot, I’m gonna write this again : we live in a very very very chaotic time.
On top of that, the motto “Culture is not your friend” sounds even truer everyday.
So… What do we do ?
Well, even if we don’t have detailed answers, quick fixes or big revelations, we try new (and also old, hello astrology !) Stuff !
And maybe it’s messy, maybe it’s painful, maybe we’re just gonna eat a shit load of trials and errors, but at least we have the freedom to try new stuff.
That’s crucial for me, I don’t want to be distracted, numbed or depressed by the current rotten chimera of society.
Yes, maybe it was an impossible task to embrace the Sacredness of the Whore and to share it with the rest of the world but… You and Erin created a completely new concept, and you had a great time doing it.
Off course, you cannot make an omelet without breaking eggs (I’m thinking about the Mormon guy and his ex-wife) but if you just imagine the number of quiet people who were like : “my God, I’ve never hear conversations like this” or “ I’ve never looked at XYZ this way”, the game is worth the candle.
“Bon courage” for the house, good bye and be well !
