Sophie is a writer based in the Hudson Valley who focuses on the intersection of spirituality, storytelling, and ecology. We speak about personal and collective mythologies and how so many of our stories have been deracinated from their roots in ways that perpetuate harm. We discuss the importance of rerooting and rewilding these narratives by listening with our whole bodies, and becoming aware of how our individual story is a part of an overarching ecological matrix. We touch on how we’ve both worked to reframe our own sensitivity and illness, and the complexities of Psilocybin, masculinity, Jesus, spirituality and magic.
I just love people who mix things up on a regular basis. Sophie’s mixture of myth and biology is absolutely fascinating. I also loved the part about being the main character vs being a “secondary” character (BUT connected to a gigantic web of individualities).
I laughed so hard at her woodchuck story. It was completely nutty and also very deep…
Last but not least, the passage about the sacred masculine was really original .The urgent use/discovery (or perhaps rediscovery) of a plurality of archetypes for a better understanding of the “Divine He”.
I’ve just read her article about Dionysus, it’s super intriguing.
Finally, I had some time to listen to this !
What a fantastic guest !

Thanks for listening and commenting, Abbas! One of my favorite episodes for sure! Glad you enjoyed it.
Well, that was terrific all the way through. From your brilliant intro, which I had not read yet, and the guest.
I listen to many podcasts, Team Human, Conspirituality, TS (of course), and. few others, but this is the first time I sent any podcaster any money.
Steve, thank you! I'm honored.
Also, did you read Micah Springer's book? Some of your intro reminded me of her experiences.
I haven't... also hadn't ever heard about her. Just looked it up though and added it to my list. Thank you!
And this one.
Really, I just forget the books I have read:

Yes! That one I've read. So good.
