Here's to another amazing year together!
A friend of mine recently said that when you’re committed to awareness, learning, and growth, every year changes your life. I couldn’t agree more. At this point, after six years of committing myself to authenticity and evolution, it feels a bit redundant to say “this year was so intense!” because truthfully, every year has felt that way.
Unsurprisingly, 2022 didn’t mess around. I wrestled with my own demons and confronted the demons of others. As I worked to forgive myself, I also made sure to hold myself accountable to learn from my mistakes. I am without a doubt ending the year with greater integrity, embodiment, and humility than I started out with.
This past year I visited seven different countries around the world, and slept in more Airbnb beds than I care to count. There is still so much to share from my time traveling, and in the coming year I plan to release a series on Substack about my reflections and experiences in each country.
In addition to the miles traveled, and all of the psychological and emotional growth, 2022 was the year I ditched my Patreon account in exchange for Substack. I abandoned most of the income I was making through paid subscriptions on Patreon, and decided to make access to the MGSW community free for everyone. Donations are still accepted, but not in exchange for content or access.
Making this transition not only helped me to make this community more accessible for everyone, but it also allowed me to cultivate a written and visual component of a Millennial’s Guide to Saving the World, further expanding my capacity to create, communicate, and engage with all of you.
This transition also helped me to remember how much I enjoy writing, and how much more of it I’d like to do. In the coming years, I expect that this project will feature a lot more writing, plus a lot more in-person opportunities to connect and learn alongside one another as well.
One of my favorite things to come out of 2022 was the return of the MGSW book club. So far we have read Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard and Die Wise by Stephen Jenkinson. In January, we are reading Wild Game by Adrienne Brodeur. To get more info about our book club, and to sign up, please click here.
Initially, I had planned to only host the book club through March, but given some recent developments, it looks like I will be in one place for longer than I thought, so I will continue to be available to host these monthly! Stay tuned for more details.
In addition to the book club, keep your eyes peeled for additional workshops, courses, and other ways to connect more deeply with this community coming in the next few months.
In 2023, A Millennial’s Guide to Saving the World is headed into its fifth year. It blows my mind to witness my vision for cultivating community, and for collectively redefining what it means to be a young person in troubled times, come to fruition. There is truly no greater feeling than watching my intangible dreams manifest into tangible reality in the shape of all of you and your ongoing support, curiosity, and courage to confront complex topics in nuanced ways.
Creative expression, no matter what the medium, is always a complex, living organism. It requires participation from the inside out and the outside in. Without all of your ongoing participation in this project over the years, A Millennial’s Guide to Saving the World would have never been able to survive as long as it has.
Together, we are doing some pretty awesome things, and there’s just no way I can take credit for it all.
Thank you.
The journey has only just begun… so here’s to many more years together.
